FTP user not created

Post by dension »

Hello,

I want to ask for help. Today, I tried to create a new FTP user for a new host. On the interface it seems to work, but the user cannot connect via FTP, WINSCP constantly asks for the password again.

I checked the shells file. The following content is OK:

/etc/shells:
# /etc/shells: valid login shells
/bin/sh
/bin/bash
/usr/bin/bash
/bin/rbash
/usr/bin/rbash
/bin/dash
/usr/bin/dash
/sbin/nologin
/usr/sbin/nologin

The new FTP user is not created in the passwd and shadow files.

Interestingly, four new files have been created in the etc folder today:
passwd
shadow
subgid
subuid

They have their old copies with the following names:
passwd-
shadow-
subgid-
subuid-

Somebody can help me to fix this problem?

System Debian 10 updated 64 bit
MyVesta: 0.9.8-26-52 23-Nov-2021

Bestregards:
Laszlo
