Hello greetings I have a problem running vestacp on my Linux machine I get this error message
package yum has no installation candidate
yum command is for centos and redhat based distros, are you trying to install myvestacp in any of those? This is Debian only

Are these instructions applicable to the situation where I have a VPS with VestaCP, and I upgraded it to Buster without realising that it's not a supported version by VestaCP?
Needless to say, all users and sites are completely inoperable.
I still have access to CP, and I do have all "good" backups that were done through it.
What is the best way forward?
I can keep upgrading to Bookworm, but how do I switch to myVesta from VestaCP on the same server?
Preferably without wiping everything off and starting from scratch...
Appreciate your guidance!
Thanks!

Yes, Vesta will create a backup, even if the services are down.

So, in your opinion, what is the better way forward?
a. Switch to myVesta on Buster and upgrade Debian after.
b. Upgrade Debian first and then switch to myVesta.
Can VestaCP and myVesta be installed on the same server at the same time?
Thanks.

c. Install Debian 12 and import backups.

So, I'm testing your way on a local server I created just for practice purposes... Debian 12.14.
I installed myVesta, it went ok, except cerificates from Let's Encrypt, as my internal IP and external IP are different, but that is fine.
I tried to restore one user (smallest in size), copied backup file to /backup, set permissions to 640, admin:admin, but while running
Code: Select all
sudo nice -n 19 ionice -c 3 v-restore-user sunlitrd sunlitrd.2026-05-11_05-12-50.tar
I'm getting an error:
ionice: failed to execute v-restore-user: No such file or directory
Am I missing something?
Thanks!

That worked, but in a weird way... only from under full
su but not
sudo...
Another question: On my VPS I run MySQL not MariaDB and users sites are using pretty antique pieces of PHP soft.
I'm not sure newer PHP and MySQL/MariaDB will be compatible... Last time it all worked OK was on Stretch.
Is there a way to pick which versions are installed or update/downgrade after?
Thanks!
